Towards an end to the political crisis? The elected president of the Montana Accord Frit A. Jean sends a message of hope

CTN News

Is the political crisis in Haiti coming to an end? We are still far from it. But, in the process, some actors already see a glimmer of hope.

According to unofficial information, a meeting took place this week between Haitian political actors and the Corps Group to discuss a provisional government, in favor of a political consensus, which should put an end to the reign of the de facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who is currently participating in the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles from June 6 to 10, 2022.

For the moment, several names of personalities are being mentioned. Starting with the elected president of the Montana Accord, economist Fritz Alphonse Jean. And rightly so, in a message on his Twitter account this June 9, 2022, the former governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti referring to the current situation, speaks of “a country of all fears. From the poorest, middle strata to the most affluent. Kidnapping, rapes, murders, fuel scarcity, the high cost of living leading to impoverishment, decapitalization and uncontrolled emigration.

The former prime minister-designate felt that the calamitous situation of the country is not for much longer, stating that “it will not last. It can’t last. We are at the dawn of a new era. We must prepare for change,” wrote Fritz A. Jean.

In the meantime, we learn that instructions have been passed to Ariel Henry by the U.S. administration in order to find an agreement as soon as possible with the actors involved in the Haitian crisis.
