National road number 1 blocked at Pont Sondé

CTN News

The traffic was completely paralyzed early Friday on the National Road Number 1 at Pont Sondé in the Lower Artibonite, where residents had erected barricades to demand water for the irrigation of the land.
Most of the protesters, who were in their thirties, were carrying bottles and threatening drivers who tried to cross the barricades.

To the ordeal of the passengers was added the rain that fell. Some of them were forced to take other vehicles on the other side of the barricades to complete their journey.

According to the initiators of this movement, the irrigation canals were sabotaged by bandits who operated in the locality of Savien under the leadership of the late Arnel Joseph.
