These police officers are now free and return to their posts, informs police inspector Astrel Calixte this Thursday, June 9, 2022, during a conference-debate organized on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the PNH in the Nippes.
These seven (7) police officers belonging to the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order on secondment with the Government Commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin, were hit with precautionary measures following the collective movement of indignation triggered after the execution in Fond-des-Nègres of the alleged bandit Elvain Saint-Jacques alias “Zo Pwason”, presented as a close relative of the gang leader of Village de Dieu, “Izo 5 segonn”. These measures are therefore lifted.
Commissioner Muscadin declared that he himself killed the alleged criminal, specifying that he did so in the absence of the police.
For him, it is a question of sending a message to the thugs who terrorize the people, indicating that he wants to make the department of Nippes a cemetery for gangs.
Human rights organizations including the FJKL and several lawyers have denounced an authoritarian approach devoid of humanism and legality of the head of the Prosecutor’s Office of Miragoâne Jean Ersnest Muscadin. The FJKL even called for compensation for the victim’s relatives. Firmly on the stand and supported by his population, the chief of the prosecution promises not to give up and to continue to hunt down the bandits.
