The Caribbean Commission of the American Congress met with the members of the Commission for the search of a Haitian solution to the crisis.
Among the members of Congress who participated in the meeting were Representative Yvette D. Clarke of the Ninth District of New York, Maxime Waters of the 43rd District of California and Stacey Plaskett of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Lesly Voltaire, Monique Clesca, Magalie Comeau Denis, and Jacques Ted St. Dic represented the Haitian Commission at this working session.
The discussions focused on the commission’s efforts to find a solution to the many problems facing Haiti.
During this virtual meeting held on December 16, 2021, the representatives of the SSHRC had taken the opportunity to give details on their steps and the methodology of work of the commission, according to a press release forwarded to ZoomHaitiNews by the Caribbean Caucus of the U.S. Congress.
The members of the U.S. House of Representatives who took part in this meeting welcomed the determination of the commission to facilitate a solution to the Haitian crisis that has already lasted too long. “We were inspired by their courage and admire their commitment to dialogue and consensus. We appreciate their efforts to meet with Haitians representing various sectors of society and listen to their concerns,” the U.S. lawmakers wrote.
Despite the obstacles, the members of the crisis resolution commission are working hard to facilitate the implementation of the Montana Agreement. Moreover, they have proceeded to the installation of the National Transitional Council on December 12, 2021.
This 44-member structure has the mission of choosing a President of the Republic and a Prime Minister to lead the transition of rupture so desired by different sectors of the national life.
