Joel Khawly, President and CEO of KHAMACO SA was arrested yesterday (Friday evening) in Jacmel.
Agents of the Departmental Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) of the PNH conducted a major operation in his private residence late Friday evening, November 25.
During this operation, large caliber weapons and other objects were confiscated.
The information was confirmed by several sources in the southeast metropolitan area, including journalist Joanel François of Radio Hosanna.
After his arrest, Joel Khawly was transported to Port-au-Prince where he was placed in custody at the DCPJ while waiting to be brought before a judge for the necessary follow-up.
Automatic weapons fire was heard during the operation.
For now, no information has been made public by the National Police on the charges against the businessman.
