Immigration: 60 Haitians intercepted in Rincón

CTN News

US Border Patrol agents arrested 60 Haitian migrants last Saturday after they landed on the coast of the city of Rincón, on the island of Bonaire, part of the Leeward Islands group
Border Patrol agents from the Ramey station, along with personnel from the Puerto Rico Police Department, discovered a “yola” type vessel entering Playa el Combate.

Upon arrival in the area, agents encountered 60 Haitian nationals (34 adult males, 24 adult females, 2 children and one adult female claiming to be from the Dominican Republic)

Agents transported the group to the Ramey train station for immigration processing and removal to their home countries.

“People who venture out to sea to enter the United States illegally not only risk falling victim to smuggling organizations, but they also risk the lives of the men and women in law enforcement who rescue them,” said Scott Garrett, acting chief border patrol agent for the Ramey Sector.
