The Haitian political class continues to offer shows of bad taste while the country sinks more and more in a serious crisis without precedent.
The political actors who are in the small business world can no longer agree on issues related to the future of the country, as is the case within the Democratic and Popular Sector (SDP) which is broken considering the statements of one of the executives of this structure, the former senator Nenel Cassy who announced his withdrawal from the agreement of September 11, proposed by Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
In a press conference on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the former senator of Nippes, an influential member of the democratic and popular sector, Nenel Cassy went crazy against Prime Minister Ariel Henry who, he says, has not delivered the goods after a year in power. The former parliamentarian therefore decided to withdraw from the September 11 agreement initiated by the Prime Minister for a peaceful and effective governance of the interim period.
So far, no result.
Indeed, acts of insecurity continue to multiply and the living conditions of the population also continue to deteriorate, complains Nenel Cassy who says that the country is currently recording levels of food insecurity never reached.
“We cannot expect good results with a one-headed executive, we need a two-headed executive,” said Nenel Cassy, who seems to be on the verge of joining the signatories of the Montana agreement who are clinging to a two-headed executive to lead the political transition.
Nenel Cassy’s comments reveal more than ever the divisions and tensions within the democratic and popular sector.
The other members of the SDP, including Majorie Michel, André Michel, Ricard Pierre (current Minister of Planning) who support the government of Ariel Henry have not yet reacted.
