Cayes: Several sectors launch a vast mobilization against insecurity

CTN News

Calls for mobilization against insecurity continue to multiply throughout the national territory. Signals were sent this week in the city of Cayes where a dozen citizens had organized a sit-in in front of the Antoine Simon airport to invite the country’s security forces to take adequate measures to liberate the Martissant road, the southern entrance to the capital, controlled for several months by armed gangs that engage in acts of kidnapping and murder.

This situation is untenable, said the citizens of the city of Les Cayes, who criticize the passive behavior of Prime Minister Ariel Henry in the face of the resurgence of the phenomenon of insecurity and kidnapping, which mourns and impoverishes Haitian families.
They maintain that the situation of insecurity that prevails throughout the national territory, particularly in Martissant, financially favors a sector naming the leaders of certain airlines.

The authorities are called upon to take concrete action to curb this scourge which destroys the moral and intellectual values of the country and affects the national economy.
Prime Minister Ariel Henry, during an address to the nation on Friday evening, said he was aware of this alarming situation that affects all segments of society. He said he hoped that the discussions he had with the leaders of different countries last week will give positive results to address the problems of the day.

The head of the Prime Minister’s Office praised the recent operations carried out by the PNH which led to the release of a 40 year old woman who had been held in a house in Torcel (Tabarre commune) since March 14.
