The work stoppage for 24 hours of the bus drivers of São Paulo in Brazil took place this Tuesday, June 14, 2022 as planned. This strike aimed to denounce the refusal to grant a salary increase of 12.47% to the drivers of SPTrans, from next October.

13 companies operating on 713 routes with a total of 6,500 buses that should carry 1.5 million passengers in the morning were totally paralyzed while 11 companies for 487 routes and 5,314 buses operated normally.
This strike has put in difficulty many civil servants and workers who could not go to work on Tuesday. Employers are already starting to complain about it.
In a press conference, the mayor of the city Ricardo Nunes considered that the strike was abusive since the strikers did not respect the order of the Court which called for a continuous dialogue between the parties. As a result, the union is punished with a daily fine of 50,000 BRL (Brazilian Real).
The mayor also announced that an emergency meeting would be held to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Because, bus users are suffering and employers are already complaining about it.
