The three students of the Isaac Newton High School (ESIN) in Gonaïves, kidnapped on December 11, 2021, are released without ransom, announced the institution in a note from the rectorate published this Monday morning.
Jean Paul PAULEUS, Kenol JOSEPH and Sylneste RENÉ, all students in education sciences, had been kidnapped in La Croix Périsse, 1st communal section of Estère, at the southern entrance of Gonaïves, by a gang operating in this locality for several months. They had demanded three hundred thousand dollars in exchange for their release.

On Sunday, December 12, ESIN students organized a sit-in to demand the unconditional release of their three comrades.
On Saturday, December 11, 2021, very early in the morning, this gang group operating on the road between Gonaives and Estere, had kidnapped several people, including Marc CHARLES, a well-known sports columnist in Gonaives, who also regained his freedom yesterday, but in exchange for a ransom, the amount of which remains unknown.
Informed of the situation in La Croix Périsse, the police of Estere and Gonaives rushed to the scene to try to stop the thugs. After several hours of confrontation, the PNH had to give up.
