The death of Robenson Léonard continues to cause uproar in Miragoâne. Immediately after the tragedy, the family of the victim was up in arms, accusing the Government Commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin of having killed a peaceful citizen who decided to invest in his country. While the head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Miragoâne Jean Ernest Muscadin claimed to have killed a brigand who almost took his life and the life of another person. The CG rejects the statements of the family of Robenson Léonard. He maintains in the wake of his statements that Robenson Leonard is a robber.

“I have no reaction to what happened, when I made a decision I assume it. An individual who has been injured by another person, I intervene to arrest him. He didn’t do it. Anyone who opposes my intervention will suffer the same fate,” said Commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin. The latter questioned the behavior of Robenson Léonard who refused to be arrested, preferring to open fire.

Commissioner Muscadin also rejected the version of the family of the deceased, making believe that the victim was already in his bed.


Robenson Léonard, 38 years old, had a degree in legal sciences. He was also a graduate student in sociology and an entrepreneur.

The concubine of Léonard Robenson, Landy Vilsaint had denied the version of the commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin who presented the victim as a brigand of the zone. “Léonard was a law graduate and an entrepreneur who invested his money for the benefit of his community,” said Landy Vilsaint.

Robenson Léonard died following exchanges of fire with Commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin in the evening of December 21-22, 2022, in the locality of Duparc, located in the first communal section of Miragoâne, Chalon.

It is reported that he shot and wounded a person who was participating in a funeral wake. Alerted by the population, the head of the prosecutor’s office of the jurisdiction of Miragoâne, Mr. Jean Ernest Muscadin, went to the scene in order to arrest the young man. He then refused to comply and surrender, preferring to open fire in the direction of Commissioner Muscadin, who escaped unharmed. But not the one who is presented as an alleged bandit.

CG Muscadin confirmed that the injured person is currently receiving appropriate care at the hospital.

The  judge of the Court of Peace of Miragoâne, Master Methony Sauveur, who made the report, said that the victim Robenson Léonard received a projectile to his head. His 9 mm pistol was also confiscated by the authorities.

Jean Ernest Muscadin said that this act is part of his firm commitment to hunt down the bandits who terrorize the population of his jurisdiction.
