Salomon Jakenson alias Guito, 22 years old, was arrested this Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Carrefour Paye, in the department of Artibonite. His arrest comes after members of the population denounced him as a new recruit of the Savien gang.
According to the communication service of the Artibonite Police, the young man was questioned by the investigation service of the police station of Saint-Marc and admitted to being a defector of the gang of “Grand’Ravine”, and recently integrated the group of Savien, with the rank of soldier.
Currently, the accused is being held in custody at the police station of Saint-Marc for the consequences of law.
On Monday at the latest, Savien’s gang abducted 11 passengers, including a young doctor, on a bus traveling between Port-de-Paix and Port au Prince.
In a press release published on Tuesday, the Artibonite police department said it was determined to eradicate the gangs and destroy their logistics, including their infrastructure and means of transportation.
