After being humiliated 6-2 by England, the Iranian football team redeemed itself in its second match.  They beat Garett Bale’s Wales two goals to nil on Friday.

Carlos Queiroz’s men delivered an extraordinary performance by scoring two valuable goals in extra time.

The first goal came from Rouzbeh Cheshmi in the 98th minute with a long range shot.  The Iranians would add to their tally three minutes later with a goal from Ramin Rezaeian.

Gales’ side finished the game down to 10 men after goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was sent off in the 85th minute for a stupid foul.

The win means Iran have taken a serious step towards qualifying for the last 16, pending the results of the England-USA match this afternoon at 1pm (Haiti time).
