The United Nations Organization for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, UN WOMEN inaugurated on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Quiskeya University, the ̈Club HeForShe, Gason Kore Fi, as a prelude to the International Women’s Rights Day, this March 8. If “equality today for a sustainable future” is the theme of the International Women’s Rights Day, “Him for her”, “Gason Kore Fi”, for an egalitarian world by 2030, let’s lay our stone”, is the theme of the HeForShe Campaign.
It is in a room filled, mostly by women and several personalities of the country, that took place the launching ceremony of the Club HeForShe, LuiPourElle, GasonKoreFi, at the University Quisqueya. The UN Women Representative in Haiti, Ms. Marie Goretti Nduwayo sees the implementation of the Gason KoreFi Club as an important step in the fight for gender equity.
Such an initiative is also launched in other universities around the world, said the representative, who encourages students to get involved for the recovery and development of the country.
The change of the country must go through gender equality, said Ms. Nduwayo who calls for the participation of women in the construction of Haiti.
The dean of student affairs at Quisqueya University, Dr. Marc Prou, also advocated for gender equality, a driver of sustainable development, he argued, focusing on human development.
Conferences and presentations at the launch of the GasonKoreFi Club also took place during the ceremony.
Themes such as: Gender equality and respect for women’s rights, Gason Kore Fi, for an egalitarian world by 2030, let’s put our stone, and equality today for a sustainable future are also discussed.
