The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Haiti and head of the Integrated Office (UNIHRO), Helen Meager La Lime, clearly expressed the organization’s deep concerns about the security crisis during a meeting on Thursday with the high command of the National Police.
The diplomat made the trip to the premises of the general direction of the PNH where she met with the commander of the police institution, Frantz Elbé assisted by some of his immediate collaborators, according to a statement issued by the PNH.
Frantz Elbé has not yet provided the expected results by replacing Leon Charles at the head of the PNH.
However, Helen Meager La Lime, reaffirmed the support of the UN in the fight against insecurity.
In the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, armed bandits continue to terrorize the population, multiplying cases of kidnapping. And for the second consecutive day, students demonstrated on Friday in the plain to demand the release of the teacher and former deputy mayor of Croix-des-Bouquets, Jean Jonas Saint-Juste, kidnapped along with his son on Tuesday in Bon Repos.
Residents also organized a protest movement against insecurity on National Road 1.
They demanded the unconditional release of the teacher and his son
