Release of the remaining 12 missionaries by the criminel group of “400 Mawozo”

CTN News

The 400 Mawozo gang freed the 12 other North American missionaries early Thursday morning, confirmed PNH spokesman Gary Desrosiers.

Divisional Inspector Garry Desrosiers was not able to give immediate details on the circumstances of the release of the North Americans.

The victims were dropped off in Morne-à-Cabris, about 15 kilometers northeast of Port-au-Prince. They were found on Thursday morning by members of the population who handed them over to the police, according to Radio Télé Scoop FM.

On October 16, 2021, a group of 17 missionaries, including 16 Americans and one Canadian, were kidnapped in the Croix-des-Bouquets area as they returned from a visit to an orphanage in Ganthier, northeast of the capital.

The kidnappers had demanded seventeen million dollars for the release of the seventeen missionaries, or one million dollars per hostage.

Two of them were released on November 21 and three others on December 5.

The other twelve foreign nationals who regained their freedom on Thursday will have spent two months in the hands of the kidnappers.

On its website, Christian Aid Ministries welcomed the release of its twelve other employees.

“We glorify God for the answered prayer. The remaining twelve hostages are free! Please join us in praising God that all of our seventeen loved ones are now safe. Thank you for your fervent prayers over the past two months. We hope to provide more information than we can,” said a brief statement from CAM.
