Following last month’s dramatic operations in Massachusetts, the Trump administration now sets its sights on Florida.

The U.S. federal agency Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of nearly 800 undocumented migrants in Miami during an intensive four-day operation dubbed “Operation Tidal Wave.”

These arrests were conducted as part of a series of joint operations between federal agents and Florida State Police, according to information shared by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on their official X account. “In an unprecedented partnership between state and federal partners, ICE Miami and Florida law enforcement have arrested nearly 800 undocumented immigrants this week during the first four days of #OperationTidalWave,” ICE stated, describing the Florida immigrant arrests as a “massive multi-agency immigration crackdown.”

This operation, presented as one of the largest recently conducted, involved multiple local, state, and federal agencies to strengthen immigration controls and carry out arrests of individuals deemed to be in irregular status. ICE also highlighted the major support from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). They took the opportunity to praise the border agents who “provided extraordinary support during this operation.” “We appreciate our partner @DHSgov’s commitment to public safety,” ICE wrote on its official account.

In its statement, ICE encouraged other law enforcement agencies to collaborate with them through the 287(g) program.

The agency also shared several photos of the operation in the field, highlighting the scale of efforts deployed to successfully execute this action.

According to ICE, this initiative aims to enhance public safety by targeting undocumented migrants and ensuring increased cooperation between local and federal authorities.

ICE operations don’t solely target undocumented immigrants with criminal records. Several legally present U.S. residents were arrested this week during routine appointments at the immigration office in Miramar.

Similar operations are expected to be conducted in other states in the coming days, including Massachusetts, according to what ICE’s acting director announced this week during an interview with the Boston Herald.
