O’rldine Doxa, lauréate du concours Jacques Stephen Alexis de la Nouvelle

Le Collège Jacques Stephen Alexis, situé à Bon Repos, commune de la Croix-des-Bouquets, a remis officiellement, ce vendredi 3 juin 2022, les prix du concours Jacques Stephen Alexis de la Nouvelle. 4 participantes ont été récompensées.

O’rldine Doxa, élève du nouveau secondaire III est la grande gagnante de la première édition du Grand Prix Jacques Stephen Alexis de la Nouvelle. Pour les membres du jury, son œuvre, ”Passion dans le désert” est un travail remarquable. « O’rldine Doxa est une écrivaine confirmée. Son travail dépasse l’entendement des membres du jury », a indiqué Raphaël Belizaire, président du jury.

Cette distinction rend fière O’rldine Doxa qui croit tout de même qu’elle pouvait faire mieux. « Je n’ai pas eu assez de temps pour parfaire mes écrits », a-t-elle déclaré soulignant que la prochaine sera la publication de sa nouvelle.

Quatre participantes sur six, majoritairement élèves du nouveau secondaire 4, ont été récompensées pour leurs efforts. O’rldine Doxa a reçu des livres, une tablette et un bon d’achat offert par la direction du collège. Samuela Dalmacy (L’héritage de la maison des colons), classée 2e, Marthalie Charles (Léa et Saül) 3e et Noncent Kaïnejy ( L’ultime châtiment) ont reçu des livres et des bons d’achat.

O’rldine Doxa, student of the new secondary III is the winner of the first edition of the Grand Prix Jacques Stephen Alexis of the News. For the members of the jury, her work, “Passion in the desert” is a remarkable work. “O’rldine Doxa is a confirmed writer. His work is beyond the understanding of the members of the jury,” said Raphael Belizaire, president of the jury.
This distinction makes O’rldine Doxa proud, but she believes she could do better. “I did not have enough time to perfect my writing,” she said, noting that the next step will be the publication of her short story.

Four out of six participants, mostly students from the new Secondary 4, were rewarded for their efforts. O’rldine Doxa received books, a tablet and a gift certificate from the college administration. Samuela Dalmacy (The Legacy of the Settlers’ House), ranked 2nd, Marthalie Charles (Lea and Saul) 3rd and Noncent Kaïnejy ( The Ultimate Punishment) received books and gift certificates.

“The effort deserves to be rewarded,” said Widly Jean, poet, head of the cultural section of the College Jacques Stephen Alexis, at the award ceremony. The author of Jacques Stephen Alexis in twenty-two pieces of sunshine praised the determination and desire to write of the six participants. “The students have highlighted the knowledge acquired in the creative writing workshop led by the Haitian writer Gary Victor on Sunday, February 13, 2022,” recalled Widly Jean.

For three hours on February 22, Gary Victor, writer, professor of dramaturgy at the Faculty of Humanities of the State University of Haiti, presented to students of the College Jacques Stephen Alexis the basic principles of organizing a story. L’auteur de Jacques Stephen Alexis en vingt-deux morceaux de soleil a salué la détermination et l’envie d’écrire des six participantes. « Les élèves ont mis en évidence les connaissances acquises dans l’atelier d’écriture créative animé par l’écrivain haïtien Gary Victor le dimanche 13 février 2022 », a rappelé Widly Jean.

Durant 3 heures, le 22 février dernier, Gary Victor, écrivain, professeur de dramaturgie à la Faculté des Sciences Humaines de l’Université d’État d’Haiti, a présenté aux élèves du Collège Jacques Stephen Alexis les principes de bases de l’organisation d’un récit. L’auteur a estimé qu’une telle initiative est d’une grande importance au niveau secondaire considérant qu’il y a des élèves qui lisent beaucoup et qui souhaitent écrire.
