Jean Stanley Morency from Haiti was murdered on Sunday 12 June inside a mini-casino where he worked as a security guard.
According to initial reports, the Haitian migrant was shot after being attacked by an individual with a knife. The General Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Baja California is investigating this voluntary homicide.
When the municipal police arrived and responded to the 911 call, Jean was no longer alive. It is presumed that his murder occurred several hours earlier.
At the scene, authorities found that chairs and other items in the plaza were in disarray, while the security cameras were stolen.
Jean Stanley Morency, 29 years old, emigrated from Haiti to Brazil and from there, like many of his compatriots, he migrated to Tijuana.
Since the implementation of the Title 42 policy, there are five cases of Haitian migrants who have lost their lives due to the same circumstances at the Tijuana border, despite the implementation of a program to strengthen public security in this Mexican border city.
