Businessman Samir Handal, arrested and imprisoned in Turkey for his alleged involvement in the brutal assassination of ex-President Jovenel Moise, will be repatriated shortly.
The news was announced by the spokesperson for the Haitian National Police.
Gary Desrosiers said that 3 agents from the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) will be dispatched to Turkey as part of this operation.
According to Inspector Desrosiers, the alleged criminel was the subject of a “red notice” which is the equivalent of an international arrest warrant.
Samir Handal is accused of being one of the intellectual authors of the assassination of former President Jovenel Moise.
In the aftermath of Mr. Moise’s assassination, Samir Handal left the country with the help of national police officers, according to a report published by the national human rights defense network.
Joseph Badjo, another individual accused of involvement in this crime, is still on the run. It is important to remember that the alleged criminal had several telephone conversations with the de facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry before and after the crime.
Until now, Doctor Henri has not given any explanation on the contents of his conversations with Badjo.
