Insecurity: Gang war in Cité Soleil, already more than 50 dead and several dozen injured

CTN News

The gang war in Haiti continues to claim victims. More than 50 deaths have been recorded in Cité Soleil and several dozen injured in violent clashes in recent days between rival armed groups.
Most of the victims are members of the G9 and GPEP gangs, which have been clashing since Friday, July 8, 2022, according to the mayor of Cité Soleil, Joel Janéus, whose words were reported by Télé Pluriel.
About fifteen armed individuals, from the Village de Dieu gang, sent as reinforcements to the G9 group were killed according to Pastor Jean Enock Joseph, who has lived in the city for several years.
Residents of the surrounding areas are rushing to flee.
The commune of Cité Soleil has been left to its own devices for the past year because of the violence of armed groups.
Pastor Jean Enock Joseph regrets that the leaders are not up to the task.
