Journalist Jean Thony Lorthé regained his freedom this Friday, February 17, 2023, after 15 days of his kidnapping in Laboule 12.
His brother Odner Lorthé and a lady who accompanied him were also released.
Jean Thony Lorthé, the presenter of the newspaper “Rafrechi memwa” broadcast on Radio Vision 2000, and his two relatives were released for ransom.
Jean Thony Lorthé was kidnapped on February 3, 2023 in the locality of Laboule 12 (Pétion-ville) while he was on his way to the commune of Carrefour to participate the next day in the funeral of a family member.
At the initiative of journalists and civil society organizations, a peaceful march was organized this week in Port-au-Prince to demand the release of the journalist.
The release of Jean Thony Lorthé is a relief for his family, his close collaborators at Radio Vision 2000 who had even observed a work stoppage on Friday, February 17, 2023 to demand his release.
