The death of the greatest footballer of all time this Thursday, December 29, 2022, has caused huge reactions around the world. In Haiti, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action was keen to “pay tribute to an exceptional player whose talent and career have been a source of inspiration for many generations of players” (sic).
The MJSAC said “to salute the departure of an icon who embodied soccer by achieving an extraordinary career through performances so far unmatched.
“His career in club and national team, his goals, his trophies, his spectacular actions, his legendary game facts will remain engraved in the memory of all lovers of football” writes on its social networks the entity headed by Ms. Raymonde Rival.
The MJSAC takes the opportunity to remind the Haitian people to King Pele, who had visited the country twice in 1971 and 1975.
The Ministry of Sports describes Pele as “a global star who has greatly contributed to stirring up a great passion for the game throughout the world” before concluding with this quote.
“Pele is leaving but the legend will live on! His legacy and influence on the game will live on forever!
May his soul rest in peace!
