The Covid-19 and its multiple variants continue to cause a stir in the world.
More than 20 cases of the new variant called BA2 derived from Omicron, have been reported in Israel.
According to the Israeli health authorities, this sub-variant has the particularity of being even more contagious than Omicron.
Identified for the first time in China a few weeks ago, BA2 has already conquered other countries such as Singapore, Canada, Australia and Denmark.
Research continues in laboratories around the world to better understand the mutations of Covid and to adapt the various vaccines already designed to fight the pandemic.
The Israeli Ministry of Health advocates a fourth dose for people at risk despite a full schedule reaching nearly 70% of the population.
Indeed, the country is the first to receive in December 2021, a shipment of Pfizer serum. The vigilance and urgent actions of the government, have not prevented that 48,000 cases are reported daily in Israel with nearly 250 thousand active cases in the territory. According to health officials, 306 patients have been hospitalized, 86 are in critical condition and 12 are on ventilators. It should be noted that 4.3 million Israelis have received a third dose of vaccine and a fourth dose has been inoculated to nearly half a million.
“Non-essential care will be suspended due to the increase in the number of cases among health workers,” said Salman Zarka, one of the people in charge of the response to the pandemic, on January 14.
