The inhabitants of the commune of Miragoâne celebrated Friday, June 24, Saint Jean-Baptiste. To mark this symbolic and festive date, a mass was sung at the Co-Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist of Miragoâne. Several public figures, politicians and civil society Miragoânaise took part including the president of the municipal commission of Miragoâne Anne Myriam Loiseau, Senator Denis Cadeau and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Nippes Marie Carme Cineaste Dumelfort.
The celebrant of the day, Monsignor Pierre André Dumas, urged the participants to cultivate wisdom and appreciation of value which were the qualities of Jean-Baptiste.
The president of the municipal commission of the city of Fernand Hibbert, Anne Myriam Loiseau, expressed her satisfaction with the celebration of St. John this year in a context of enormous financial constraints, pointing out that not a penny has been released at the level of the central state for the commemoration of St. John. She thanked the pilgrims of the city and the youth who participated in this great patronal feast.
It should be noted that the commune of Miragoâne celebrated its patron saint in the blackout.
