Port-au-Prince, February 27, 2025 – Inspector General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Vladimir Paraison, was shot in the foot during an intense exchange of gunfire between law enforcement officers and armed gangs in Port-au-Prince.
According to journalist Denel Sainton, Mr. Paraison was on the scene to support officers at the Port-au-Prince police station amid escalating violence in the Haitian capital.
Clashes between security forces and armed groups have intensified in recent days, severely impacting the safety of both citizens and public institutions. Paraison’s injury comes as authorities struggle to regain control over several neighborhoods plagued by insecurity.
His current health status has not yet been disclosed, but sources indicate that he received medical attention following the incident.
This event once again highlights the severity of Haiti’s security crisis, as attacks against law enforcement continue to rise, undermining efforts to restore peace and stability.
