President Donald Trump announced on Monday that a “total and complete” ceasefire has been reached between Israel and Iran, potentially bringing an end to twelve days of deadly conflict between the two nations.

According to a statement posted by the president on his Truth Social platform, the ceasefire is set to take effect in approximately six hours, at midnight Eastern Time. Trump stated that the conflict would be considered “over” twelve hours after the truce begins.

“Officially, IRAN will begin the CEASEFIRE. At the twelfth hour, ISRAEL will also begin the CEASEFIRE. And at the twenty-fourth hour, the WORLD will officially recognize the END OF THE 12-DAY WAR,” Trump wrote in a solemnly worded post.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from either the Israeli or Iranian governments. Details surrounding the terms of the agreement also remain unclear.

The announcement comes amid a dramatic escalation of regional tensions in recent days, prompting serious international concern.
