The North-West Police announced that they have reached 90% of their objective in the fight against armed gangs on the national road. The Departmental Directorate of the Northwest confirms having neutralized nine armed gangs out of the ten active gangs in the Northwest: seven (7) in Port-de-Paix, one (1) in the commune of Bassin Bleu and another in the commune of Saint Louis du Nord.
Among the nine (9) gangs neutralized, police authorities in the Northwest cite for Port-de-Paix, Gèp Nwa, Dènye Rèl, gang Haut Fourneau, gang sou kanal, gang Dè letan, gang Pak kapwa ak gang Lakoup. For the commune of Saint Louis du Nord, the police report the gang of Rivière des Bas. The PNH spokesman in the North-West also claims to have eliminated the issue of VAR between the Bassin Bleu/Gros-Morne road.
“Vehicles circulate freely on this stretch from 6 AM to 8 PM. There are no more kidnappings on the road to Port-de-Paix,” reassured the local PNH official, before emphasizing that these nine (9) gangs have all been neutralized and that the police are now working on the consolidation phase.
There remains only the Lacroix St. Joseph gang which has not been totally neutralized, however the Port-de-Paix police are continuing to reduce its capacity to cause harm,” said the PNH departmental entity, announcing the arrest of seven (7) members of this armed and dangerous group.
The North-Western Police have arrested a total of 33 alleged gang members in their latest operations. Among them (2) two leaders, J𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘆 𝗮llia𝘀 𝗧raka (Haut Fourneau gang leader), 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗹lias General, (La Coupe gang leader). 3 gang leaders were fatally shot in exchanges with law enforcement) and others are being lynched by members of the population.
-Police also arrested 𝗟é𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗹li𝗮𝘀 𝗞𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻è𝗹, for illegal possession of firearms.
On the other hand, the Northwest Police are actively searching for these five bandits:
– 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽è𝗿𝗲, gang leader Lacroix St-Joseph, 𝗟é𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀, Saint Louis du Nord, 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗱 thus known that the Police identify as the leader of the Lacoupe gang and finally 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿é, a member of the Pendu gang, 𝗥ém𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 still a member of the Pendu gang and 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗻 leader of the Pendu gang who kidnapped according to the PNH recently the Parish Priest of Laplate and (3) other people who accompanied the priest in the rectory on Sunday June 5, 2022.
The gang leader Je𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗶n was recently released under troubling circumstances by the highest judicial authorities of the North West Department despite the heavy charges against him.
With regard to the Pendu gang, officials remind us that this gang is not based in the Northwest. After the last case of kidnapping committed in the commune of Bassin Bleu, the Police were obliged to ask the Artibonite Police to intervene in order to dislodge this gang which represents a threat to the North-West department.
According to the DDNO, for the moment the gang has cleared the area, after the intervention of the Police of both departments, which resulted in two (2) dead and nine (9) injured in the bandits’ camp. The area was blocked after the operation, and the gangsters could not access the hospital. Two other thugs died a few days later.
The operations against these 10 groups of gangs were carried out thanks to the professionalism of the police officers and the logistical support of the General Direction of the Police related to the PNH of the Northwest.
