The former Government Commissioner of the city of Port-de-Paix, Mr. Michelet Virgile, was arrested this Tuesday, July 12, 2022, by agents of the Office of Financial and Economic Affairs (BAFE) a few days after his dismissal for serious administrative misconduct.

Indeed, he had ordered the release, on July 6, 2022, of Jonas Georges and Fritz Jean Relus, arrested for arms and ammunition trafficking.

The case of confiscation of 120,000 rounds of ammunition, three handguns (two 9mm pistols and one 38 caliber revolver), 30 magazines and 20 cases of Ak-47 rifle during an operation conducted by customs officers in the city of Port-de-Paix, has just experienced a new twist with the arrest of former CG Michelet Virgile, who had ordered the release of two of the alleged traffickers, namely Jonas Georges and Fritz Jean Relus.

The Bureau of Financial and Economic Affairs (BAFE), the armed wing of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police, decided to deepen its investigation. It launched a wanted notice against the deputy director of legal affairs of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Frizt Aubourg, who is allegedly linked to this case.
Several other people are actively sought by the police in connection with this case, we cite among others
