New seizure of weapons and ammunition in Port-de-Paix

Officials from the Customs Department have reported a new seizure of weapons and ammunition in Port-de-Paix during a search of a private vessel.

“At the end of the day, this Thursday, July 21, 2022, customs officers assigned to the customs of Port-de-Paix, have discovered on board a ship from the United States of America, a shipment of firearms and ammunition,” published on its twitter account the general administration of customs.

During the search operations, customs officers have counted 7 guns including 2 of 9mms caliber, 4 of 40 caliber, 1 of 38 caliber, 2 magazines 9mms, 4 magazines 40, 434 cartridges including 197 cartridges 9mms, 182 cartridges 40 and 55 cartridges 38.

The efforts of Zoom Haiti News to speak with local officials about this case, proved futile.
This seizure comes a few days after the transfer of Madame Rebecca to the head of Port-de-Paix Customs, the third in less than a month.
