Mountaineers Travel to Statesboro to Face Georgia Southern

BOONE, N.C. – App State is on the road in the Peach State Sunday, as they square off with Georgia Southern at 1 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.

ABOUT APP STATE: App State (3-6-4, 2-3-0) are looking to snap a three-game losing skid, following a 1-0 defeat at home to Georgia State on Thursday. The Panthers scored the lone goal of the game in the 88th minute, as they were able to tuck a shot just inside the near post. App State looks to respond today by picking up their first road win of the season. The Mountaineers are led on the season by Izzi Wood who has scored four goals and tallied eight points to go along with a team-best 34 shots and 15 shots on goal. Shannon Studer has tallied two goals and two assists, and ranks second on the squad with six points. Kerry Eagleston has started every game in net for App State, posting a 1.27 goals-against-average and .789 save percentage, to go along with four shutouts.

ABOUT GEORGIA SOUTHERN: The Eagles (3-3-5, 2-1-2) jumped into a tie for second place in the Sun Belt East standings after picking up a 2-0 victory on Thursday against Marshall, scoring both goals in the final 10 minutes of the match. In conference play the Eagles have also defeated Old Dominion, tied Texas State, and lost to Arkansas State. The Eagles have played a heavily defensive style so far this season, scoring just nine goals, but allowing only 11, through 11 contests. Elis Nemtsov leads the squad with three goals, while Emma Armstrong has added two. Freshman Katie Oakley has played the majority of minutes in goal for the Eagles, posting a 1.27 goals-against-average, and a .762 save percentage.
