Several dozen people blocked early this morning August 30, 2022 the national road #1 at the level of Saint-Marc (department of Artibonite) in order to demand the availability of fuel in the service stations, to denounce the high cost of living and the growing insecurity in the country.
The protesters used their tap-tap and their motorcycle to barricade the national road #1. They threaten to intensify the movement to force the de facto government authorities to take their responsibility.
No police presence was noticed.
The persistent scarcity of petroleum products in the country further complicates the lives of its citizens who depend primarily on this product to meet their needs.
In the Haitian capital, a gallon of gasoline sells for 1500 gourdes on the black market. Despite the demonstrations of force by the Port-au-Prince government commissioner and the multiple announcements of the availability of fuel in the terminals, motorcyclists, tap-tap drivers and the population continue to pay a high price.
