The United Nations Refugee Agency (Acnur) has identified San Luis Potosi as one of the “resettlement cities” for Haitian migrants where they will have the opportunity to integrate into the work force.
According to the report “Attention to the Haitian population in Mexico”, the capital of Potosí is designated for the local integration program. This agency works to “accompany the refugees in their resettlement in different cities to access formal employment and where their families can start their lives again.
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency, 16 Haitian migrants fleeing violence and poverty in their country have already benefited from this program, which involves 260 companies.
By 2022, Acnur aims to relocate 200 Haitian families to Mexican cities.
According to the report, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), “Haitian families will be identified in Tapachula, Chiapas, and Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, who have at least one Spanish-speaking member of productive age (25-49 years old), with the willingness and conditions to integrate the formal labor market in the cities of Puebla and San Luis Potosí.”
The perfect relationship that exists between the United Nations Refugee Agency and the National Institute of Migration is identifying the people transferred by this entity who wish to access a formal job to integrate in relocation cities such as Aguascalientes, Cancún, Guadalajara, Irapuato, Querétaro, León, Puebla and San Luis Potosi.
