Meeting between the Director of Customs and representatives of employers’ organizations of the private sector

The meetings between the Port-au-Prince Customs and the actors of the customs sector continue. After the merchants of the Hypollite market, Tabarre and Downtown, the new Director General of the Port-au-Prince Customs Julcene Edouard met with all the employers’ organizations on Friday, August 12, 2022.

Several points were at the center of this meeting between the General Administration of Customs and the employers’ organizations and carried out in the conference room of the Port-au-Prince Customs.
It is part of the promotion of a better partnership between the AGD and the private sector by improving communication between customs and businesses.

The modernization of customs control through the continuation of the dematerialization of procedures and customs processes, the improvement of the risk management system, the modernization of the legal framework and regulations, the strengthening of customs control, the strengthening of customs surveillance and the customs surveillance system to optimize the fight against fraud and smuggling, are among other points that were discussed.

For the new Director General of the AGD Julcene Edouard, these various meetings initiated since he took office, are part of the strategic plan of the Port-au-Prince Customs to improve relations with various actors, and at the same time bring better results according to the roadmap of the government in place. After the meeting with all the employers’ organizations, the new Director General of Port-au-Prince Customs is satisfied. Julcene Edouard promises to continue to meet with the actors directly involved in the customs sector, in order to achieve his goal.

Adih, Amcham, Ath, Ccih-Ccio, Ccihc (Canado), Cfhci (Franco), Total, 12 are the different employers’ organizations that took part in this meeting. The representative of Amcham, Rene Max Auguste congratulated the spirit of openness of the new Director General of Customs in Port-au-Prince Julcene Edouard. The meeting with employers’ organizations reflects the willingness of the Director General of the AGD to change things, an initiative that will be beneficial for the country says the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. After this first historic meeting between the AGD and employers’ organizations René Max Auguste said he already expects a better collaboration with the new administration of the Port-au-Prince customs.

Julcene Edouard intends to send strong signals since his assumption of office at the head of the Port-au-Prince customs. The meetings will continue as the director general assures and the results are also expected.
