Filmmaker and producer Pierre Roberson and Saintanor Camilus premiered their newest feature on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Quincy, Massachusetts, in the Greater Boston area.
Several dozen filmgoers turned out to attend the Boston-area premiere of Jabari that evening. With this latest work, Neptune and his team have pulled off a genuine tour de force.
The film tells the story of a millionaire searching desperately for his mother. Elizabeth, Jabari’s mother, worked as a housekeeper for a couple struggling to conceive. Adoption, too, had become nearly impossible for them, owing to the husband’s complicated history with children.
Faced with that situation, the couple fabricates a plot against their housekeeper, staging a false romance with the husband, whose sole aim is to impregnate the woman and then tear her from her only child. On the very day she gives birth, Jabari is taken from his mother, who was sent to a psychiatric facility.
Determined to find her son, Jabari’s mother escapes from the psychiatric center in dramatic fashion and takes a new name. Years later, she is hired into Jabari’s own household as a nanny — a position imposed on the family by Jabari’s wife. The relationship between the two is tense from the start. Jabari treats her with disdain and contempt, never suspecting who she is, until she dies after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
For more than two hours, the audience remained rapt, following a succession of dramatic turns, each more stunning than the last.
The film features several well-known industry names. Jean Gardy Bien-Aimé and Mora Junior Étienne each make brief but memorable appearances. Others took part in the production as well, among them stylist and designer Edna Chery, who plays Jabari’s mother, and director-producer Pierre Neptune himself.
Taking the stage after the screening, Neptune — the film’s co-producer, actor, and director — thanked everyone who had made the trip to attend the Boston premiere of Jabari. He announced further projects to come, and offered his thanks to the actors, who threw themselves fully into the work to make the film a resounding success.
As the screening ended, several red-carpet interviewees did not hide their satisfaction with the film — tempered, of course, by some disappointment that Elizabeth waited until her death to reveal to Jabari that she was his mother.
