Conservative U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton, will make a decision on the fate of the Joe Biden administration’s parole program this week.
After several postponements, the hearing is finally scheduled for August 24, according to the court clerk, who confirmed the information to CaribbeanTelevisionNetwork.
“Yes, this case is scheduled for Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in Victoria, Texas,” responded the case manager to Judge Drew B. Tipton at the Southern District Court in Corpus Christi.
During this hearing, the federal judge will rule on the legality of the U.S. administration’s new migration policy, commonly known as the Biden program.
Drew B. Tipton, appointed by former President Donald Trump, is well-known for his anti-immigrant stance.
He has already made several unfavorable rulings against illegal immigrants in the United States.
He is the judge of choice for Red States governors, who often choose his district to thwart the Democratic administration’s migration policies.
However, the Biden’s administration is confident that the humanitarian parole program will endure.
Preparations are already underway for an appeal in the event of an unfavorable ruling by the conservative judge.
Launched at the beginning of the year, the humanitarian parole program has already allowed several thousand citizens from Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and more recently Ukraine, to be admitted to the United States for a period of two years.
The program is credited for significantly reducing the number of people attempting to cross the southern border of the United States illegally.
Several immigrant rights organizations have also expressed their support for the Biden program, which has enabled thousands of people fleeing violence in their home countries to find refuge in the United States.
