Immigration: A Federal Judge Blocks Expulsions to Third Countries

The Trump administration will no longer be able to deport immigrants to countries they are not originally from.

A federal judge issued a ruling to that effect this Friday, according to CNN.

According to the judge, sending immigrants to countries where they have no ties would cause them harm.

Donald Trump’s administration had reached agreements with several nations to accept immigrants whose home countries refused their return. The MAGA administration also invoked an 18th-century law, the Alien Enemies Act, to deport more than 230 Venezuelan citizens to El Salvador. However, another judge had already ordered the suspension of this controversial law.

This Friday, the far-right Republican executive appealed to the Supreme Court, which will decide whether to take up the case. Conservatives currently hold an absolute majority in the court.
