ICE Boston Arrests Haitian National Accused of Assault and Sexual Crime

Agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have arrested Jean Yves Ovilme, a Haitian national in Boston.
Jean Yves Ovilme, 37, is accused of assault and battery as well as sexual assault on a minor, according to officials from Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston.

The suspect was brought before a court in the Suffolk District in Boston.

“Mr. Ovilme will have his day in court, but he stands accused of horribly victimizing a Massachusetts resident,” said Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director for ICE ERO Boston, adding that “Mr. Ovilme posed a significant danger to Massachusetts neighborhoods, and we will not tolerate such threats to the New England community.”

Ovilme entered the United States legally on November 10, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but later violated the terms of his legal admission, according to ICE officials. They did not specify the exact conditions under which he was admitted to the United States.

The charges against Jean Yves Ovilme date back to November 20, 2024, when he appeared before the West Roxbury District Court in Boston for indecent assault and battery and assault and battery.

ICE issued a detainer the same day, but the state of Massachusetts did not honor it and released Ovilme on January 3, 2025.

“ICE Boston will continue its mission of arresting and removing illegal alien offenders,” said Patricia H. Hyde, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to public safety in New England communities.

ICE encourages members of the public with information about minor sex offenders to report crimes or suspicious activities by calling the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or completing an online tip form.
