Agents of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), arrested Cathel Jones, one of the members of G9 and allies during an operation on Tuesday in Cazeau, Cité Soleil, according to PNH spokesman Gary Desrosiers.
The divisional inspector did not provide details of this operation, but indicated that the gangster is incarcerated in the capital.
During a meeting with journalists on Wednesday at the DCPJ office, the spokesman also mentioned the 307 individuals apprehended by the police.
Rape and possession of illegal weapons are among the charges against them.
Regarding the situation that has prevailed for months in the Martissant neighborhood, the spokesman said that the police have not given up in the face of the actions of armed gangs.
According to Gary Desrosiers, PNH armored vehicles are patrolling the southern entrance of the capital, adding that gunfire is often exchanged between the police and the gangs who terrorize the people.
“This is a situation inherited by the new team, we are putting in place a plan to fight against insecurity,” said the divisional inspector.
Gary Desrosiers also calls on other actors to play their role in the battle to restore peace and security in the country, especially in places deemed at risk.
In addition, Inspector Desrosiers announced the deployment of 11,000 police officers throughout the territory as part of the holiday season and the New Year.
According to him, the high command is aware of the need to reassure the population during this period
