The bandits released the trade unionist Paul Loulou Chéry and his wife Ginette Appolon on January 17, after the payment of a ransom of 60 thousand U.S. dollars.
They had been kidnapped and held since January 5 in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets.

The trade unionist confirmed that he was kidnapped by the 400 Mawozo gang, as well as the amount paid to recover his freedom with his wife.
