The dean of the Court of First Instance of Jacmel, Judge Wando Saint-Villier announced his departure from the jurisdiction for next week, after 3 years and 3 months at the head of the deanship of this jurisdiction.
During a press conference on Friday, June 17, Judge Wando St-Villier deplores the socio-political crisis and that caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which he presents as major handicaps in the realization of civil and criminal hearings during the judicial year 2019-2020 in Jacmel
The magistrate also reported a crisis at the level of the bar of the jurisdiction having caused the failure of the activities planned in the framework of the execution of the calendar counting for the judicial year 2020-2021. He deplores in this sense an unlimited strike of the lawyers of the bar.
The now former dean of the Court of First Instance of Jacmel recalls that his objective was to make the courts functional at the level of the jurisdiction and to overhaul the infrastructure of the court operating in an unsuitable building.
However, Judge Wando St-Villier informs that an amount of 5 million gourdes has already been released for the realization of redevelopment work including the building housing the court of first instance in Jacmel.
Judge Wando St-Villier is transferred to the deanery of the court of first instance of Hinche. He will be temporarily replaced by Judge Romeo Lainé before the appointment of a permanent dean of the Court of First Instance of Jacmel.
