Romel Bell is no longer Director General of the General Administration of Customs. He was replaced by the citizen Julcène Edouard who was his coordinator within the institution, according to information confirmed by reliable sources.
The installation of the citizen Julcène Edouard at the head of the AGD comes less than 24 hours after the announcement of the Minister of Economy and Finance Michel Patrick Boisvert who had given the guarantee that a new director was going to be appointed at the head of the General Administration of Customs.
The big moneyman of the republic had expressed some dissatisfaction with the decline in customs revenues, explaining that the funds collected are insufficient to feed the tax base.
The former director general of the ADG, Romel Bell, has been charged in a case of arms and ammunition trafficking. An internal investigation is underway into the case, the news agency has learned.
Julcène Edouard, who has just been installed in this position, is likely to face a large protest movement of customs officers in the capital who are preparing to observe a work stoppage to protest against the recent cases of kidnapping perpetrated against several of their colleagues.
