The United States is finally convinced that elections are not possible in Haiti given the current situation in Haiti.

In an exclusive interview with ZoomHaitiNews and CaribbeanTelevisionNetwork on Monday, State Department Senior Advisor Jon Piechowski said he recognizes that the conditions are not good for holding elections in Haiti. “We recognize that the current situation is not good. Haitians cannot go about their business,” said the former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere, adding that “we cannot talk about holding elections now. We will continue to work with the National Police and our partners to create better security conditions in Haiti.
The U.S. government has increased its support for the Haitian National Police since the assassination of former President Jovenel Moise, the career diplomat said.

Invited to react on the allegations of CNN according to which the Prime Minister Ariel Henri would have participated in the planning and execution of the murder of Jovenel Moise, the senior adviser did not want to make to comment. He returns the ball to the U.S. Department of Justice, which he says  is responsible for the investigation. “The assassination of President Jovenel Moise is a tragedy. A great crime. Haiti needs a full and transparent investigation. The Department of Justice is responsible for the investigation. I can not speculate on the investigation,” said the diplomat, who acknowledged the difficulty of the investigation. “We think it is a complicated investigation. We can help with the investigation,” he promised.
On February 8, the American media CNN had published an article in which it had cited the name of Prime Minister Ariel Henry in the planning of the assassination of former President Jovenel Moise. Allegations rejected by the head of the primacy who speaks of a move to assassinate his character.

Jon Piechowski is a senior advisor at the State Department. Prior to this position, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere, a position currently held by Brian Nichols. Mr. Piechowski has worked in Haiti for many years.
