Brazil-Storms: 3 dead and more than a hundred towns in Santa Catarina state flooded

A cyclone was unleashed on the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina causing innumerable damages. The civil prison of Tubarão was destroyed, 759 prisoners were transferred to other prison centers.

The torrential rains, which have not stopped since Monday, May 2, have caused severe flooding and landslides affecting nearly 44,000 people. 3 people died, 115 towns flooded, houses destroyed, according to a partial assessment made public this Thursday by the authorities.

According to the weather service, the region has received an amount of rain that already exceeds the level it could receive for the whole month of May. It advises people to remain vigilant and attentive to the information about the evolution of the Cyclone.
