14 municipalities declared an emergency situation on Sunday after heavy rains poured down. This caused the death of 84 people, the disappearance of 56 others and 3957 homeless according to the last report communicated by the governor Paulo Câmara.
He also announced the release of 100 million reais for the affected municipalities. 14 cities are the most devastated by the flooding and landslides: Recife, Olinda, Joboatão dos Guararapes, São José da Coroa Grande, Moreno, Nazaré, Macaparana, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, São Vicente Ferrer, Paudalho, Paulista, Goiana, Timbauba and Camaragibe
The governor of the state assured that he will work with the mayors of each city indiscriminately in order to provide state support in an effective way.
