Brazil is reportedly poised to take another left turn with the latest trends in the 2022 presidential election, making former president Lula the big winner. Much to the chagrin of Jair Bolsonaro.

The current president of Brazil who is also a presidential candidate keeps attacking the polls with repeated accusations. This, contrary to the warnings of his liberal political party that he represents. The party going so far as to describe the behavior of the president as unpredictable.

In his last interview with the National newspaper this Monday, August 22, Jair Bolsonaro criticized the polls and the electoral process, described as deceitful without presenting evidence. According to the latest polls, Bolsonaro is in second place with 32% of the voting intentions behind the returning Lula, who is expected to win with 47% of the voting intentions. Bolsonaro rejects the possibility of being ousted by the leader of the Workers’ Party (PT).

The electoral campaign in Brazil is in full swing. It began on August 16 and will end on October 2. The first round of elections is scheduled for October 3, 2022.
