Famous boxer Manny Pacquiao officially announced the end of his professional career at the age of 42. PacMan confirmed this on social media. He will focus on his political future by running for the presidency of the Philippines.
It’s no longer a secret, Manny Pacquiao said goodbye to professional sport. In his speech, he thanked his best fans and boxing, which he presents as the best sports discipline in the world.
“It’s the hardest decision of my career, but I feel at peace,” said Pacquiao, who invites people to “believe in their dream and work hard”.
PacMan stepped into the ring last August to play his final fight, lost against Cuban Yordenis Ugas.
Manny Pacquiao (62 wins, 8 losses and 2 draws) starts off being a living legend of the noble art. His professional career will have lasted 26 years during which he won everything in his path, being crowned world champion in 6 divisions.
In 2015, he faced the legendary American Floyd Mayweather, in a fight which had been called “fight of the century”. He had bowed by decision of the judges.
He expressed his gratitude for boxing, which he said gave him “the chance to fight back out of poverty” and “the courage to change more lives”.
Manny Pacquiao entered the political landscape in 2010 when he was elected MP for the Philippines. In 2016, he was elected senator. He now dreams of succeeding the fantastic Rodrigo Duterte, current President of the Philippines.
