The attacks carried out by the Viv Ansanm coalition claimed the life of a soldier from the Haitian Armed Forces and injured two others, according to RFM.
In response to this growing threat, the Haitian National Police (PNH) has stated that it has taken drastic measures to strengthen security in this strategic area.
PNH Deputy Spokesperson Lionel Lazare confirmed by phone to Caribbean Television Network that reinforcements had been deployed to counter the actions of the criminals. He also denied rumors that these forces had been recalled by the PNH High Command. According to him, several specialized units have been stationed in the region since January 27, the date of the first attack on the commune.
During their offensive, the assailants attempted to seize control of the town telecommunications base before occupying several nearby private homes, according to Alfredo Antoine, former deputy of Kenscoff. He warned of the danger posed by their presence just six minutes from the town’s police station, a positioning that gives them a concerning strategic advantage.
With the arrival of new reinforcements, the PNH, in collaboration with the army, launched a joint operation to secure the telecommunications base and its surroundings. Specialized units have been mobilized to prevent any further expansion by the criminals and to regain control of the occupied areas.
To facilitate these operations, Alfredo Antoine urged, in a message posted on his Facebook page, all motorcyclists to avoid traveling through the town. This measure aims to limit suspicious movements and allow law enforcement to carry out their interventions more effectively on the ground.
