The association SAVERGI organized on Saturday, December 25, 2021, a Christmas day with the children of Grand-Gosier, during which the children were able to eat with the members of the association who were present and received toys for the occasion. This activity was held at the Lycée de Grand Gosier in the locality of Marjofrey. About 150 children received a Christmas gift. A way for SAVERGI members to help them brighten up this festive season in the context of the serious crisis that the country is going through. Socio-political, economic and security challenges are severely affecting the ability of households to meet their basic needs. The purchasing power of families has decreased significantly. Thus, the possibility for these parents to offer toys to their children during this period is completely restricted.
The primary objective of this activity was to help the most disadvantaged children, those who do not have the means to celebrate or to offer gifts on the occasion of Christmas, said the president of SAVERGI. A gesture of solidarity, he added. Each child received a hot meal during the day. Dr. Verna Cineus stressed that this is the second consecutive year that the organization organizes this kind of activity. Marjofrey is an isolated area. The members of the structure wanted to bring their support to these children who live in a situation of extreme vulnerability, said one of the members Mr. Leonel Pierre.
Children are the future of the country, said the president of SAVERGI. All children are equal no matter what country they live in. Verna Cineus pleads the cause of the latter and thinks that all the children must have the same possibilities to celebrate Christmas which is certainly the feast of the children. The children were really in joy during this day of distribution of toys.
Doctor Cineus through the actions of SAVERGI wants to bring a little joy in the hearts of disadvantaged children so that they can grow up in this society with a sense of equality. Their future must be secured, we must pave the way for them to become honest citizens, their childhood must be marked by actions that encourage them to solidarity, hammered Mr. Cineus. They must be educated in happiness and must be happy and not let social insecurity take over, he added.
SAVERGI sends a message of solidarity and compassion to all the children of Haiti and wishes to develop the notions of sharing, mutual aid and solidarity in them. Offering toys at the end of the year is a tradition that goes back to antiquity and the members of SAVERGI intend, despite the crisis in Haiti, to perpetuate this tradition for the happiness of children.
