The Luc-Eucariste Foundation (FLE) celebrated its second anniversary this Monday, March 7, 2022. To mark this celebration, those in charge organized last weekend a series of conferences around the theme: “education and science, two (2) pillars of development of a country”. Thus, on Friday, March 4, 2022, Dr. Erold JOSEPH and Dr. Natacha FABIEN led the first conference around the sub-theme: “Education, health and life”.
On Saturday, March 5, the second conference took place around the sub-theme: “Advocacy for food security in Haiti”, with the intervention of agronomists Stanley RICHAR / Mc Dalie and Archange HILAIRE.
On Sunday, Marilyne Durandis PIERRE and Gérald FLEURANTIN of the Gérald LEVEQUE Foundation discussed the sub-theme: “Education is the basis of development”.
Three thanksgiving masses were also sung in different parishes of the Grand Sud including the Immaculate Conception of Paris, the parish of Saint Anne de Jérémie and the chapel of Mont Carmel in Bainet.
A fundraising event was held in view of the realization of the foundation’s projects, including the addition of classrooms and desks for the students of the National School of Coral Labbé as well as another school in Jérémie.
The president of the FLE, Jean René Bazelais, drew up a “quite satisfactory” balance sheet for the year 2021 given the socio-political and security situation in the country which has paralyzed some of the programmed activities. But this did not prevent the FLE from launching repair work on 4 classrooms at the National School Corail Labbé, in the 9th communal section of Bainet. This educational institution benefits from a school canteen program thanks to a partnership between the FLE and the association SAVERGI. From this same collaboration, vitamins have been distributed to pregnant women and children in the communes of Leogane, Grand-Gosier and Jeremie (Voldrogue).
Last December, the members of the foundation organized a Christmas party for the children of Bainet and Jérémie.
As part of the initiatives to deal with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the FLE had received from the Haitian Distribution Company S.A. agricultural materials that were distributed to farmers as well as soap to encourage them to wash their hands in order to avoid the spread of the virus.
Jean René Bazelais believes that there is still much work to be done to help the country move forward. He calls for the union of all the forces of the country because, he says, we can only succeed together. Mr. Bazelais took the opportunity to thank the various partners who have contributed to the cause of the foundation in particular: SAVERGI, Comme il faut, ISPOT, the Gerald Lévêque Foundation, as well as other donors of the FLE.
